My Kid's a GENIUS

Of course all mothers think their child is the smartest, prettiest/most handsome, best kid in the world, but mine really is....
Here is a video of Dunning signing "all done." We've only been working on it for a few weeks, unlike "mama" and "dada" which we've been doing for MONTHS. But for some reason, he'll do "all done" on cue, pretty much all the time, unless I'm trying to get him to do it for others. I try to limit it to when we are actually "all done" with something - like food, changing diapers or clothes - so he gets the connection. He'll actually do it when he is full or doesn't like a food. Or at least that is what I think he means. Would love to be in his baby head and hear his little baby thoughts, if there are any!

Race Results

Mikel and I ran the Great Gobbler in Maumelle this weekend and had a great time! It was pretty cold, but warmed up a little when the sun came out. There was a pretty good crowd for the race, and it was the first one ever. It was sponsored by the Hot Legs Running Club - a women's running club - and from what we over heard, a 16 year old put it together! The t-shirts look a little odd with a big giant turkey on the front, but what could you expect from a race called the Great Gobbler?
Neither of us improved our overall time, but I felt really good during the race and after. It even had several hills! I finished 6th out of 17th in my age group and 31st out of 120 women overall. Mikel finished 11th out of 19 in his age group and 52nd out of 119 men overall. There was even an 84 year old woman who ran the race and finished in under an hour! I passed her and said to myself, I want to do that when I am her age!! She came in 1st in her age category.
Pics of the race to come later...we may even be in a local magazine....

Naps are for friends

Naps are for friends, or so our daddy says so. Not sure where that expression came from, but that's what Mikel likes to say to Dunning. I like it too, because it sure makes our house much more "friendly" when D has had a nice nap vs. the alternative. Yesterday, he woke up with some very interesting hair that just had to be captured. He's also pictured here playing with a jungle train my mom got him. He likes to spin the bananas and play with the parrot. All using that index finger, which I think is hilarious. He still hasn't got the pincher grasp down, so that means a few more weeks of mama feeding him instead of him feeding himself. I also taught him to roll his train across the floor. Here he is having loads of fun doing so until he crashed it and got upset.
