Be still and know that I am....zzzzzz

Apparently, Mikel and I eating dinner are not entertainment enough for Mr. Dunning.

New Sling

I got a new sling this week! It's really cute and functional. Dunning is still getting used to it and still likes to lean forward when he gets tired sitting up, but I hope it will work well for us. I don't like putting him in his car seat to go grocery shopping, because he strains and tries to sit up in it, and he's not quite ready to sit for an hour in the cart seat. These slings are really neat and they are like this little underground culture. Other people who are "baby wearers" will stop you and point out that you are indeed wearing a sling too. Baby wearing is supposed to facilitate closeness between baby and mom. And it's just plain functional too. I can wear him on my hip, front, and back (when he's older). There's also a hold called the kangaroo pouch, but I'm pretty sure he would try to lean forward too much in that one. It's so much easier to get him in and out of than other carriers that have buttons, snaps and flaps. And it's keeps us cooler too. We tried it out this weekend and got a lot of comments and one lady even stopped us in the store and asked where we got it (Ebay, but the lady who made it has an online store, BabyBellaWraps.com). Note, make sure your baby hasn't just eaten when wearing him. Dunning wasn't used to all the motion or his tummy was hurting him or something because he threw up on me in the store. At least we had all that extra material to use as a spit up cloth. :)

Sunday

Hmmm. He's not so sure about this...

Oh Caleb! You so funny!

Jordan was shaking her hair in his face and he thought that was really funny.

Sunday we went over to Jeremy and Kristen's to swim and eat. Dunning had never been in the water before, so I was a little nervous over how he would react. I was hoping he wouldn't freak out and thus never want to come near the water again. Mikel grew up with a pool and feels that it is very important that Dunning learn to swim from a young age. There were a lot of people there at first, so we stayed near the edge so he wouldn't get splashed. Then a lot of them left and we pretty much had the pool to ourselves. He started to get tired and didn't want to sit up straight in his floatie, and decided to lay his head down and lick it instead. He kicked his legs and pretty much just watched what was going on around him. He wore his new bathing suit that Grandma Tita got him. Plus his cool dude sunglasses.

Later we had roast and veggies at the house, followed by ice cream, yummy. Then Dunning's cousins, Jordan and Caleb, kept him entertained the rest of the evening. He got to bed a little late, and then decided that 5:30 a.m. was a good time to get up for the rest of the day, so he is already down for a nap at 7:30 this morning. We were going to go down to the park and run, but since he is napping and it is supposed to storm this morning, so we may have to hold off until this afternoon after grocery shopping. That is, if I am up to it. I am pretty sore from scrubbing the deck this weekend. Whew.
